I know this is not the time for panicky Oxford entries, but this is stressing me out more and more each day. I have had no reading list. In fact, I have had no communication from Exeter since I got my offer. I feel they should have sent me something at least. Anyone else in the same boat? Or do all your colleges acknowledge your existence?

I guess everybody's been busy with exams (hope they went well!) but I thought I might drop by to say hi. I'll be starting at St John's this October to read Arabic, which really can't come soon enough. :p

I've just come back from my gap year adventures to face a very scary reading list -- mostly the books sound very interesting, but er, a bit daunting. I don't think even the two and a bit months to go before term starts are enough to get through all of them -- I suspect even the first book on the list would take me a month to get through. >.< I am clearly going to have to learn to read faster.

I'm feeling distinctly relieved that I don't have to go through the exam results ordeal this year (since I spent most of last summer convinced I'd missed my grades) and I wish all of you waiting for your grades the best of luck. :)

Hi everyone, as my study leave is about to begin, (last day of school ever tomorrow, scary stuff!) I thought I'd pop in here and wish everyone doing their A levels the best of luck. Hope everyone gets the grades they need, and to all you lucky people who went throught this last year and are sitting on unconditional offers; you have no idea how much I envy you right now!

I've not been a terribly involved member of this community, so far, but I'm going to post lots and lots from now on!

I'm going to be coming to Oxford, to study, or as you all say, "read", English at Exeter for my year abroad from Tulane University in New Orleans. I was referred to this community (thanks, btw!), and even though I'll technically be a third-year university student, I'll be new in October (and with a ridiculous Southern accent, at that). Beyond what I've read in Harry Potter (which, I'm sure, is totally accurate), I have NO idea what to expect in the UK. Sooo, yeah, I'm just saying hello.
I'm so anxious.

Hey again! Thanks for all the friendly comments etc! I was just wondering if anyone knows what the dance societies are like around Oxford, because there's no central Student Union to look around on open days, so I'm a little clueless about what societies there are. I'm really into all types of dance - I currently do Tap, Ballet, Modern and Folk dance (wouldnt really care about keep that one up) and would like to learn some news types too, such as salsa, jive etc. Anyone know what the dancing community is like at Oxford?

Also, would anyong be up for a concequences (the "boy's name, met girl's name, in place, he said, she said, and the concequence was" game) society if I were to start one - Lady Alquyn will get this one lol!

Ditto a pirate society....and yes it would involve dressing up!

Hi everyone, I'm Verity (yes, another one) and I've got an offer for Keble to study History and French. I actually applied to Madgalen (where I met lady_alqwyn) but I had a look around Keble when my friend (who has also got a place) was interviewing there, and i really liked it, which is good, lol! I come from Maidenhead (near Windsor), in Berkshire, which is about 45mins/1hr from Oxford. My friends think I'm mad for choosing a university so close to home, but as I see it, no matter how close it is, Oxford is a totally different world! I just love the atmosphere there! For this reasonI really hope I get my 3As. The fact my little sister has told her friends that I'm definately going there is another reason :-S It'll be really great to get to know a few of you guys before I go - university is going to be such a big change for me - I'm rather glad that at Oxford you get non-stop catered accomodation, as I can't cook at all, hehe! Hello all! I'm Harriet, got an offer to study History at Magdalen from September, and I think the fact that it took me a full ten minutes to work out how to post on here pretty much says it all about how unlikely that eventuality actually is! Good to see a couple of History people on here - we rule! - and hopefully some Magdalen types as well? Get in touch anyway as I'd love to meet some more future "Oxonians" (hehe - that's so cool - can you believe we get to go to a uni where we have a special posh name for ourselves? Hooray!!) Oh, and hello to chainsaw_poet aka Katie, who told me to come on here.
